Sonic DVDit! Wins Millimeters's Tommy
Award
DVDIT! NAMED "MOST INNOVATIVE PRODUCT" FOR PROFESSIONAL POST
PRODUCTION
Marin County, California (June 22, 2000) - Sonic
Solutions announced today that DVDit!, the easiest way to
publish on DVD, was awarded Millimeter magazineÌs prestigious
Tommy Award, as the "Most Innovative Product" for professional
post production. These awards, presented by Millimeter, the
industryÌs leading film and post-production trade publication,
are named for inventor Thomas Edison and acknowledge achievement
in new product and technology development.
The Tommy Awards are nominated by a panel of postproduction
professionals who comb through the noise and clutter of NAB
to identify outstanding products and technologies. These products
and technologies are chosen against two main criteria: they
must address a current and compelling need and they must signal
a new and exciting future direction.
"Our panelists choose products they think will help them operate
their businesses better today and in the future," said Cynthia
Wisehart, editor of Millimeter magazine. "With this award,
we recognize that SonicÌs DVD technology is changing the course
of the industry, and we congratulate Sonic on their groundbreaking
achievements."
Sonic's DVDit! was awarded a Tommy because its simplicity
heralds a future trend: using easy DVD creation software to
create DVDs for client approvals and other deliverables. The
potential savings of time and money DVDit! brings to these
activities is dramatic, and users who want the rich feature
set of DVD authoring solutions can choose from SonicÌs wide
range of products as their needs evolve.
In addition to the Tommy Award, Sonic was also recently awarded
with top honors from the readers and editorial staff of virtually
all of the industryÌs leading AV, film and post-production
trade magazines including "Best DVD Authoring System" by the
readers of Post Magazine, "Most Important Purchase of 1999
ç Top Manufaccturer" and Top Products" from Film & Video Magazine,
AV Video and Multimedia ProducerÌs "Platinum Award for Innovation
in Technology, and Television BroadcastÌs "NAB 2000 EditorsÌ
Pick of Show."
