Combining DVDit! with GV-MPEG2/PCI Makes Home DVD-Moviemaking Simple

Marin County, California (September 6, 2000) - Sonic Solutions announced today that I-O Data, the leading producer of computer peripherals in Japan, has chosen DVDit! LE to provide DVD authoring capabilities with their GV-MPEG2/PCI MPEG-2 video capture and editing system.

DVDit! is the easiest way to publish on DVD, and is the industryZs best-selling and easiest-to-use DVD authoring application. By including DVDit! with I-O DataZs acclaimed GV-MPEG2/PCI video capture and MPEG Creator editing system, users can easily capture movies in real-time MPEG-2, edit the contents, and directly author a DVD title.

With the added functionality provided by DVDit!, users can author DVDs which can be played on PCs or set-top players. Using DVDit!Zs integrated cDVD™ production capability, short DVD-Video titles can be recorded onto standard CD-ROMs and then played back on any of the hundreds of millions of PCs equipped with high speed CD-ROM readers.

GV-MPEG2/PCI offers high-quality and high-resolution MPEG-2 real-time hardware video encoding with a capture size that is four times larger (720 X 480, Full-D1 size) than MPEG-1 (320 X 240). The product supports bit-rates from two to ten megabits per second, giving users the option to select one of five basic level settings, as well as specific custom settings.

GV-MPEG2/PCI supports both constant- and variable-bit-rate MPEG-2 and the compression ratio can be changed according to the image displayed. The result is higher-quality images and a better compression ratio than conventional MPEG-2.
