Users Win Top Honors at Prestigious DVD Excellence Awards
Awards Presented at DVD Association Annual Conference
Marin County, California (March 27, 2001) - Sonic Solutions announced
today that over eighty percent of the award-winning projects at the 2001
DVD Excellence Awards Ceremony of the DVD Association (DVDA) were created
by Sonic users. The 2001 DVD Excellence Award is the highlight of the annual
DVDA conference, an event that attracts the industry's leaders in DVD technology
and title production.
"The winners of the DVD Excellence Award are the undisputed cream of the
crop, and we are honored that they selected Sonic as their production system,"
said Mark Ely, Vice-president of Marketing at Sonic Solutions. "These are
the users that take advantage of the most complex features available in
the DVD specification to deliver highly-interactive and powerful titles
that pack that extra punch."
The DVD Excellence Award was created to recognize skill, creativity and
craftsmanship in DVD creation, authoring and publication. The overall quality
of the finished DVD-Video, DVD-ROM or web-integrated DVD titles were assessed
and the skills used in the creation of each title were evaluated and scored
by an independent panel of DVD experts, based upon a set of objective criteria
established prior to judging. The judges were asked to evaluate each item
using the criteria and assign a score, up to a maximum of 100 points. All
entries receiving an average total score of 90 points or above earned a
DVD Excellence Award.
DVD Creator Wins MIPA Award
Sonic DVD Creator also recently received the Musikmesse International Press
Award (MIPA) for Best Mastering System. In an evaluation conducted by thirty-one
industry trade magazines from around the world, DVD Creator was selected
as best mastering system of 2000/2001. The awards ceremony was held on March
8th at the Musikmesse convention in Frankfurt, Germany.
