Digital Media Innovation

The spirit of innovation is a cornerstone of Sonic Solutions. Sonic has evolved from its roots in digital audio, where it received widespread recognition as the Emmy®-award winning developer of the groundbreaking NoNOISE® digital sound restoration solution used to restore tens of thousand of recordings, movie and TV sound tracks around the world, to become the preeminent enabler of digital media content from Hollywood to the Home.

Sonic innovation has helped multiple markets make successful transitions from one consumer media format to the next. Sonic enabled the audio industry’s transition from analog to digital and was instrumental in helping the movie industry make a smooth transition from VHS to DVD. Today, Sonic is once again at the forefront, helping professionals and consumers alike make the shift from standard definition video to high-definition and, with Sonic DVD On Demand, helping Hollywood move to new models for the electronic distribution of entertainment.

Sonic’s product innovation has been widely recognized and heralded by leading media outlets throughout the world. Over the past ten years, Sonic’s Roxio-branded applications have been honored by every major industry publication including securing awards from PC Magazine, CNET, PC World, MacWorld, and Maximum PC.

Sonic’s technical innovation is reinforced through its portfolio of more than 350 patents and patents pending in the area of digital media content creation and playback – many of them essential to the next generation of interactive HD content.
